The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has initiated the final migration of its legacy regional databases into a unified national cloud core, resolving decades of fragmented pension calculations for over 300 million formal sector workers.

Under the EPFO 3.0 architecture, the statutory Employees' Pension Scheme 1995 (EPS-95) is transitioning from decentralized regional server silos to an event-driven microservices framework hosted on sovereign cloud infrastructure in New Delhi and Hyderabad. The transformation eliminates paper-based pension payment orders (PPOs) and implements Aadhaar-based automated biometric verification, compressing claim settlement turnarounds from 28 calendar days to under 72 hours.

Core Architectural Metric

The unified national database decouples member records from employers and local field offices, establishing Universal Account Number (UAN) as a persistent financial identity with automated real-time interest accrual and actuarial EPS-95 deficit tracking.
